Each New Day

The Each New Day Program is a sexual and personal maintenance program for the man who has been successful at achieving basic sexual self-control for a period of time on his own, or through one of the other programs offered at this website. It is for the man who wants to continue to live a life of sexual self-control and purity.

The goal of this program is to enable you to continue either total sexual abstinence or limited abstinence as described as "In the BOX" behavior. If you need a reminder about IN THE BOX, see the Article on Sexual Reporting below. However, I challenge you to be totally sexually abstinent, if you can.

To remind you that you are imposing accountability upon yourself to maintain sexual self-control and spiritual good standing before the Lord, this program asks you to do something; to take some action each day, for the next 40 days. The action or activity is designed to strengthen you as a person and as an Adult, Christian, Sexually Mature, Man. Frequently it is a challenging, unique, sometimes disarming behavior. It may introduce you to something new. This is intentional! It affords you the opportunity to get out of your usual mode of existence; that usual mode where sex sometimes becomes the source of stress-reduction, relief and an emotional tranquilizer.

The action/activity is designed to "VITALIZE" you as a person since so many men who deal with tendencies toward sexual addictiveness are often "devitalized" in their personality or lifestyle. See the Article on Devitalization (AD) below to which I will refer frequently.

Sex often becomes prominent, if not addictive issue in a person's life because he does not have a center of contentment, a center of gravity which provides fulfillment and satisfaction within himself. He is devitalized. I know of nothing which more effectively blocks sexual obsessiveness than when a person is genuinely comfortable with himself, with God, others and his work. When he is able to move from the preoccupation with his own needs and gives his attention to others and their needs, to an intimate, filial relationship to the Father, and to other things of absorbing interest, the sexual obsessiveness recedes into the background of his life. What is italicized is worth reading again! It's the essence of sexual self-control!

When he is "vitalized" in these ways, sex becomes becomes normative rather than obsessive or impulsive! Sex becomes neither too much nor too little. It also takes on a wholesome and mature quality. It is normative rather than an urgent necessity. And because of this truth about sex, the Each New Day Program places great emphasis on diverting your attention to other things and people, other modes of behaving and thinking which free you from the 'devitalized' state which often leads to sexual obsessiveness.

Each New Day asks you to maintain accountability by keeping a record of three areas: your sexual activity, your pro-active activity, and your meditation. Your efforts and accomplishments at taking these positive actions in your life and your daily meditation, should keep you vitalized and free of out-of-the-box sexual behavior.

Though some actions or activities are on-going, each day the action or a part of the pro-active activitiy MUST be accomplished. That's why this is called the Each New Day program. Your repsonsibility is to record your experiences at the end of the day sometime (let's say between 6-8PM each day?). What thoughts, feelings and realizations did you experience in accomplishing the activity? Incidentally, it is best if you don't look ahead to future days, but rather take each new day as it comes. That's a good way for you to live anyway! See Matthew 6:34.

Do These things Each New Day!

Day 1.Now let's begin! Today, and for the next two days, I'd like you to begin writing your autobiography. Writing your autobiography is very therapeutic and many times, when done under the Holy Spirit's guidance can be tremendously healing.
Now, whatever your age is, I'd like you to divide it into thirds. Today, to begin your autobiography, take the first third of your life and write about it. What should you write? The negative and positive experieces, events and memories spiritually, religiously, sexually, relationships, emotional; you name it.
Day 2. TOday, take the second third of your life and continue your biography. Share a portion with me. Also today, find a quiet church that is open, and spend just 15 minutes in conversation before God. No reading, writing; just personal talking.
Day 3. Today, complete your biography and share it with me. Also, today I'd like you to "witness" to someone about your faith in Jesus Christ. Find an opportunity to mention the name of Jesus, or God to someone.
Day 4. Today, every hour as much as you can remember to do so, try to say something like, "I love you Lord, Praise you Father God, Thank you Jesus, Fill me Holy Spirit." And do it with intentional sincerety.
Day 5. Periodically I will be referring to a # in the AD. This stands for the Article on Devitalization,[hereafter called AD] (see link above). Also From time to time I will give you readings from LIVING WITH HOMOSEXUALITY [hereafter called LWH of Dr Bill's]. Today, read some of the Introduction.
Day 6.Today, Let me introduce you to a good friend of mine. You'll be blessed by visiting THE RANCH.Let me know what you did at the Ranch?
Day 7. Today I'd like you to put some change and some one dollar bills in your pocket, and go into a town or city where there are homeless or begging people. Find them and give them some money and simply say "God Bless You!.
Day 8. Today, call a member of your family, relative or acquaintence and ask them how they're doing, etc. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to a person whom you may neglect or have avoided for some reason.
Day 9. Today, send a gift or a card of appreciation to the pastor of your church. If not the pastor, someone who has had a spiritually beneficial influence on you. You can do so anonymously, but better if you didn't.
Day 10. Today, read THE GOAL. Give me your thoughts and reactions. How does it reflect your own progress?

Day 11. Today read #13 in the AD and do one of the "backgrounding" things it suggests.
Day 12. Today, read Male Strengthening. Reactions! Feedback?.
Day 13. If you don't already have a #12 of the AD, today I'd like you to start planning or doing one. If you do already, then tell me about it and practice it today.
Day 14. Today, listen to this SERMON. Take notes while you listen and give me some feedback about what it says to you.
Day 15. Today read #3 of the AD and do one of these: be joyous, silly, flippant, humorous, singing, musical, smiling, goofy, playful, joking, teasing, tricking, pretending, acting.
Day 16.Today I want to tell you a joke. Here it is: A guy goes into a restaurant wearing a shirt open at the collar and is met by a bouncer who tells him he must wear a necktie to gain admission. So the guy goes out to his car and he looks around for a necktie and discovers that he just doesn't have one. He sees a set of jumper cables in his trunk. In desperation he ties these around his neck, manages to fashion a fairly acceptable looking knot and lets the ends dangle free. He goes back to the restaurant and the bouncer carefully looks him over for a few minutes and then says, "Well, OK, I guess you can come in - just don't start anything." KORNY! NOW TELL ONE to someone!
Day 17.Saying "Thanks" is a sign of healing and maturity because it shows that you realize that so much of your life is a "gift" from God and others. Today, say "thank you" and mean it, whenever it seems right to do. Make this a definte THANK YOU day to God, and those close to you, as well as those you come in contact with.
